Jewel walking stick: silver handle, which depicts an elephant head with rolled trunk in pure Art Nouveau style. In the lower edge of the barrel, six peridot stones, emerald cut, are set. Eyes in brilliant cut periduct stone. Ebony wood shaft. Copper and iron ferrule. Signed Maurice Daurat (1880-1969), he was an important and productive artist. At the beginning of his career he created many pieces in the Art Nouveau style and later, after the war, in the Art Deco style. He won numerous international awards. Daurat’s pieces can be found in decorative arts museums in Europe and in Cairo. Paris, France circa 1910.
