Walking stick: L-shaped silver handle, depicting a boar’s head with Baltic amber acorns and embossed and carved leaves. Cabochon garnet stone eyes. Ebony wood shaft. Metal ferrule. Silversmith’s marks Josef Ladislav Němec (1871-1943), a goldsmith and silversmith (like his father Václav), designer and teacher, one of the most important Art Nouveau jewelers in the country. Nēmec spent most of his life in Prague, the city of his birth and deathPrague, Austria-Hungary, circa 1900.
