Jewel walking stick, large curved knob in silver, vermeil with stones: garnets, topaz and emeralds. Ebony wood barrel. It commemorates the events of Emperor Hadrian and Antinous, the favourite. Around the band is the famous incipit of a poem by the emperor poet ‘animula vagula blandula, the first verse of a poem that appears in the Historia Augusta as the work of the dying emperor Hadrian. Peruzzi, Florence, Italy circa 1930.
