Walking stick: jeweled stick, sculpted nephrite jade knob, depicting the head of an eagle, glass paste eyes, 18K gold band and ebony wood barrel. Signed André Aucoc (1856-1911). André Aucoc was part of the Aucoc firm founded in 1821. André received a gold medal at the Universal Exposition of 1889, then the first prize at the Universal Exhibition of 1900. In 1900 he received the Legion of Honor. His brother, Louis Aucoc, was also a leading Parisian Art Nouveau jeweler. The Aucoc family company based at 6 Rue de La Paix was founded in Paris in 1821 and dealt with jewelers and goldsmiths for the House of King Louis-Philippe, the House of Orleans, Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie. From 1874 to 1876, René Lalique was a disciple of Aucoc. Paris, France circa 1900.
